In Becoming a Gendered Body: Practices of Preschools (Martin, 1998), data was collected through direct observations and semi-structured in-person interviews. Over 50 hours of observation were conducted in five preschool classrooms, where Martin documented daily activities, interactions, and routines, paying close attention to how gendered behaviours were enacted and encouraged by both teachers and students.
