INSIDE ATLAS.ti November 2021

Jörg Hecker
CEO

Dear ATLAS.ti users and trainers,

we are delighted to see that people from very diverse areas are using ATLAS.ti. While the majority of our users always came from the fields of education, psychology, and sociology, we conducted an extensive survey and found that many users are working and conducting research in engineering, IT, social sciences, religious studies, history, law, anthropology, criminology, UX, market research, tourism, economics, medicine, management, marine policy, and ecology! By expanding and widening access, we are able to also describe the contours of a fascinating research journey. The current trends suggest that ATLAS.ti is more than a social science and educational software. It is a diverse qualitative research program that can be harnessed across many areas of research.

Do you need to work in a team, but you don't want to deal with the hassles of coordinating multiple versions of your project? ATLAS.ti Web is here to make your life easier! You can invite as many people as you want, and each person can work on the project whenever they want. Everyone's work is automatically saved and updated across everyone's computers, so you do not need to worry about uploading, merging, or managing multiple copies of the same project! ATLAS.ti Web is the only software solution that facilitates live collaboration and removes all the hassles of teamwork by integrating everything in real time, so that you and your team can just focus on analyzing your data! If you prefer to work offline, you can download your ATLAS.ti Web project and use ATLAS.ti Desktop which supports asynchronous teamwork in numerous ways including inter-coder agreement analysis.

We also have an army of support experts within the ATLAS.ti team to meet all your needs! If you ever have any question or run into any problem, just give us a call, write us in the chat, or send us an email. Our support experts are always available to answer any instrumental or methodological questions that you may have, so please feel free to reach out. In addition to providing support in English and Spanish, we now also offer support in Russian and Chinese (with more languages to come in the not-too-distant future)! You can always count on our free 24-hour support!

Also, in November, we released a new update of version 9.1.7.0for Windows, and 9.1.3 for Mac! We kindly ask all our users to check for these free updates and update to the very latest versions.

Additionally, we are proud to say that our online premium courses have received excellent feedback and high demand from emerging researchers and academics who would like to implement ATLAS.ti in their research projects and teaching. More information about our courses can be found below.

Enjoy!

ATLAS.ti - International Qualitative Research Toolkit (IQRT) Webinar Series

ATLAS.ti has partnered with the International Qualitative Research Toolkit (IQRT) at the University of British Columbia Okanagan to offer a brand-new webinar series: 'Explorations in ATLAS.ti' and 'Insights in Qualitative Research Methods.' Through this series, we highlight innovative approaches and practices in qualitative data analysis with ATLAS.ti and in qualitative methods in general. Here is a sneak peek from the latest webinars series:

"Collaborative Qualitative Data Analysis using ATLAS.ti Web: Case of Cyberbullying" with Ani Munirah Mohamad , PhD - in Law from University Teknologi MARA and Yusramizza Md Isa, PhD - in Criminal Law from University of Lancaster, UK. They shared the 3 most important benefits of using ATLAS.ti Web in their research: ability to monitor and follow each other's works, interactive and useful features, enjoyable experience of collaborative qualitative analyzing.

"Strategies for Data Analysis Using Networks to Obtain Meaningful Results" with Julia Gluesing PH.D and Ken Riopelle PH.D. This webinar demonstrated two different strategies for obtaining results using the network view in ATLAS.ti to produce meaning and useful interpretations of coded data. The focus was on both theory driven and data driven (emergent) findings using real project work. They showed an analysis in a single project and how to take advantage of the power of ATLAS.ti networks to build "pictures" of the conditions, strategies/actions, and consequences that are patterned and related to different contexts and impact work.

Join us for more upcoming free special webinars to get insights of real-time research projects and how you can use ATLAS.ti to your advantage!

Call for chapter proposals on qualitative data analysis

We are pleased to announce the development of an Expanded Edition of the 2019 award-winning Taylor & Francis book, How Qualitative Data Analysis Happens: Moving Beyond "Themes Emerged", edited by Áine Humble (Mount Saint Vincent University, Canada) and Elise Radina (Miami University, USA), and we invite scholars to submit chapter proposals for this expanded edition.

We invite scholars studying various human experiences (basic research and applied research) in areas such as sociology, family studies and gerontology, education, and health and human performance (e.g., nursing, leisure studies, sports psychology) to submit chapter proposals based on work published between 2019 to 2021.

The authors are looking for diversity in terms of methodologies and career progress (experienced scholars and new scholars represented as first authors), at least one chapter with an Indigenous focus, and at least one chapter involving a large research team. In addition to the broader range of topics identified above, they also seek more scholars outside of North America to be represented in this expanded version and to have one chapter describing mixed methods research (specifically, studies in which quantitative and qualitative data analysis are combined in the data analysis and interpretation process).
