ATLAS.ti in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil
Salvador da Bahia, Brazil – August 5, 2014 – ATLAS.ti trained students, researchers and academics in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. Participants did qualitative research in psychology, education, sociology, anthropology, business, nursing, among other disciplines.
In late July and early August, a delegation of ATLAS.ti travelled to the city of Salvador da Bahia to meet with administrators and faculties at the Universidade Federal da Bahia (UFBA). Introductory workshops were held at the UFBA and other local universities.
The visit was in response to an invitation extended by UFBA to introduce its graduate students, researchers and professors to ATLAS.ti. Two workshops were taught to a total of 120 participants from many academic areas, including psychology, administration, sociology, anthropology, social work and education.
Mr. Jörg Hecker, the company’s Director of Business Operations, stated “We are grateful and very pleased that we are able to provide trainings for a large number of researchers here in Brazil.“
Dr. Ricardo Contreras, director of Training & Partnership Development of the company, added that this visit was “a very important opportunity to not only teach ATLAS.ti to people doing interesting and relevant social science research, but also as a step towards developing a strong network of trainers who can teach ATLAS.ti in Salvador, in the state of Bahia, and in Brazil in general”.
ATLAS.ti’s European Manager of Training & Partnership Development, Ms. Neringa Kalpokaite, taught introductory lectures at the Centro Universitário Jorge Amado (UNIJORGE) and the Universidade do Estado da Bahia. According to Ms. Kalpokaite, “these lectures allowed us to give overviews of ATLAS.ti to faculty and researchers who will need the software as a concept mapping tool, to help in their literature reviews, and to assist them in their qualitative data analysis projects.”
ATLAS.ti software is already used by academic, health and government researchers in many universities, research institutions, and corporations in Brazil and South America.
